The ISCP is delighted that a Chartered Physiotherapist is standing for election to the Physiotherapists Registration Board in Category 1: Registrants engaged in the practice of the profession
Dr Sheelagh McNeill, D.Phil. is a highly experienced Chartered Physiotherapist with an extensive background in professional governance, ethics, and international accreditation. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Sheelagh’s career has spanned leading institutions including Guy’s Hospital, London, and the Adelaide Hospital, Dublin. She currently operates a private practice in Sligo.
A dedicated advocate for the profession, Sheelagh served as President of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) from 2010 to 2012. During her tenure, she chaired the Professional Procedures and Ethics Committee and played a pivotal role in the Statutory Registration Committee. Her expertise in international standards was developed through years of service on the International Qualifications Working Group (IQWG).
With a D.Phil. from the University of Ulster, Sheelagh combines clinical excellence with a deep commitment to public protection and the advancement of professional standards. She has been a member of the Physiotherapists Registration Board (PRB) since 2022 and further extended her regulatory contributions by joining the Professional Practice Advisory Committee (PPAC) in December 2025. Through these roles at CORU, she continues to work toward the protection of both the public and the physiotherapy profession.

Voting is by proportional representation by the single transferable vote. Every registrant on the electoral register of CORU will have a single transferable vote in each electoral category.
